In the rather predictable and prickly habit of title trouble raising its head, just prior to a flick’s release, ‘Endhiran’/ ‘Robot’ is being lavished with the same attention by Arun Kuckreja, a Delhi based moviemaker.
Kuckreja alleges that he had made a film with the same title in 1996 and that the title was waitlisted with the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) for a sequel. The makers of ‘Robot’, however, assert that the title was registered with Red Chillies Entertainment and that Shah Rukh Khan gave it to them as good will.
States Kuckreja in a media quote, “I was down with osteoporosis, due to which I could not do anything for three years. Shah Rukh Khan cannot transfer the title directly to them. He has to first surrender the title to IMPPA, and then it will come to me, as I am the first person shortlisted.”
Hansraj Saxena, COO of Sun TV, which has produced ‘Robot’, expresses shock and rubbishes Kuckreja’s claim in a media quote stating, “Gauri Khan of Red Chillies has officially handed over the title to us. This is Asia’s biggest film and we have been shooting with this title ‘Robot’ since the last two years. Was he asleep all this while?”
