Director Hari had earlier announced a film titled Aruva with Dhanush in the lead. But the title has now been changed to Vengai for reasons best known to the director. As planned before, Tamannah will play Dhanush’s lead pair in Vengai.

The film is set in the Sivagangai district and Dhanush plays a fiery village lad and Tamannah, his love-interest in the film, appears as village belle. Raj Kiran is also included in the star cast.

Vengai is being produced by Vijaya Vauhini Studios.
